SONGS TO MAKE DOGS HAPPY is the first qualitatively and quantitatively researched musical CD for dogs ever created!  The songs and music are based upon the choices of 214 canine participants – what THEY want to hear in songs!

Dr. Kim Ogden - Avrutik, Dr. P.H., intuitive animal communicator, and the Laurel Canyon Animal Company,  collaborated to create music that dogs, themselves, want to hear!

214 dogs were queried as to their preferences in lyrical content and music type.
This population represented canines of both sexes, many ages and varied breeds from geographical locations across the US and Canada.  Topics for the dogs’ preferences were taken from Dr. Ogden’s research.

All song lyrics were reviewed and edited by Dr. Kim for content and feasibility of mental an emotional comfort to the dog.  In fact, Dr. Kim, a musician herself, and member of the Chicago Songwriter's Collective, wrote lyrics for half the CD's songs.

Musical tracks for the song’s lyrics were then recorded.  Dr. Kim then played CDs and tapes of the selections for canine participant focus groups.  Canine comments relating to the songs were documented in detail and each song’s lyrics and music were adjusted accordingly.
The CD has helped to make thousands of dogs happier!

Testimonials

"Through the years as a practicing veterinarian, I have treated dogs with a variety of conditions, many of which displayed unusual symptoms and history.  I have recently been treating a 13-month old Labrador Retriever for seizures.  Unfortunately, a littermate who also had severe seizures was euthanized due to poor drug response.  The same fate appeared destined for this 13-month old Lab.

When I received the “Songs To Make Dogs Happy” CD, I wasn’t sure what to expect of it, but I thought I would try it out on my Lab patient to see if it could possibly help to calm him.
Even with intravenous medication, the Lab puppy was still very ‘agitated’ with any external stimuli.  We decided to turn on the CD and amazing things happened:  The puppy became much more relaxed!  When the CD finished playing, we could see an immediate change to a more ‘excited’ expression, so guess what we did?  We sent the CD home with the owner who reported that it really made a ‘difference’ during the next few days of recovery.

Currently, the dog is doing very well.  We recommended a diet change, added several natural supplements and reduced medications until none were given.

“Songs To Make Dogs Happy” has been a great experience.  It is truly amazing to think that music is as ‘therapeutic’ for dogs as it can be for us!"

- Richard L. Porter, D.V.M.

"From very early on our English Spaniel (PJ) developed the terrible habit of howling and attacking the garbage when ever we left him alone. Sometimes he would howl even when we were home and he would find himself alone in a room. Last Sunday I purchased your new CD, "Songs to Make Dogs Happy". We played it for PJ that evening while we were at home and video taped PJ's reaction. PJ totally ignore the CD and left the room. The next morning I set up the video camera, turned your CD on and told PJ not to howl & behave himself when I left. I came home later to review the tape and PJ had done exactly as I had asked. Since then we have played the tape and asked him not to howl every time one of us leaves the house, and PJ has done exactly as we have asked. Clearly your CD makes PJ very happy when we can't be with him!"
-Thanks so much, the Loprest Family & their quiet dog

"I spoke with Hilde just now. As she is still out of power (since Friday night and won't be fixed till Tuesday) she asked me to email you. She was driving in yet another Michigan thunderstorm and had all 3 pups in the car. She put on your CD to see if it would help. Brandy (who feels the storms are going to get her) was the calmest she's been in 2.5 weeks. Shiner enjoyed the songs too and especially liked the "Squeaky Toy Song".  Shiner likes to rip up his toys but he has lots of fun doing it! Hilde is now on her way to buy oodles of batteries so she can keep her portable CD player going and continue to make Brandy feel better as storms are predicted for the entire night. Hilde sends you mammoth amounts of thanks!!!"
- Kathy Hoynes, Greyhound guardian rescue group

"I just wanted to let you know how much my dog enjoys his new CD that I purchased for him. It keeps him company while I am out and he likes to listen to it when I am busy around the house and I don't have time to play with him. Also, when it is on while I am home I find myself singing along with all the songs. I also have 4 cats are you planning a CD for cats?"
- Judy Moylan, Animal Communicator

"I listen to this CD all the time with my Golden Retriever, Buddy. I sing many of the songs to him and he loves it!  When his favorite song plays, "Squeaky-Deaky," he comes alive with happiness. This CD has definitely brought me closer to my animal."
- Mary Kay McLevich, small business owner

"If you want to see one of those priceless doggie-smiles, put this CD In your player! My animal friend grins from ear to ear the whole time I play it for her. It has brought a lot of joy to both of our lives."
- Carolyn Bjur, Animal Communicator

"Well, I've played the doggie CD so much that I know all the words to the songs. This is not necessarily a good thing as I can't get "Squeaky Deaky" out of my head. Ever! I do, however, enjoy playing it for Bennie and Rugby and watching their reactions. They seem to particularly love the "Cookies" song, but can't figure out where the man is who is offering them cookies. Rugby licks my little tape player!"
